Religious Education

At Goodyers End Primary we follow the agreed syllabus for Religious Education (RE), which was developed by Coventry and Warwickshire SACRE.

Children in each year group follow a series of unit plans that focus on Christianity and other World Religions.  The topics that are covered in these units include what it is like for people of faiths in Britain today, belonging, creation and questions about God among others.  Each unit is also strongly linked to children’s own experiences and children are encouraged to share their home faiths with their class.

We aim to make RE as relevant and interesting as we can and where possible include visitors from faith groups and visits to places of worship.  Investigations into pictures and artefacts allow children to ask questions and deepen their understanding.

Children across the whole school join in significant events such as Christmas, Harvest, Easter and Remembrance with respect and enjoyment.

Attached below is the Knowledge and Skills Progression document for RE.  This details the areas children will cover in various year groups.
